About This Volume

The main character of this tale is Jubei, a painter of rat-catching cats in Edo. His constant companion is a tortoiseshell cat named Nita. However, Nita is no ordinary cat, but a mythical two-tailed monster cat that can speak human language fluently. And Nita has another magical power. By blowing on Jubei’s cat paintings, Nita blows new life into its subject. And so, this human-cat duo spends their days encountering various people and cats in the city of Edo and solving their problems by using Nita’s unearthly power.
